Saudi Reef Advances Women’s Businesses in Al-Kharj’s Leather Sector

Al-Kharj: The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program, widely known as Saudi Reef, has initiated its first vocational empowerment training in leather industries for women in the Al-Kharj governorate.

This event marks a crucial effort to foster entrepreneurship and bolster the national economy, aligning closely with the ambitious goals of Vision 2030.

The training, reported by the Saudi Press Agency, equips 15 rural women with essential skills in leather manufacturing, focusing on areas such as value-added production, design, product diversification, quality control, and business management.

The program further enhances participants’ capabilities by offering guidance in business planning, cost management, marketing, and branding, all designed to help these women establish and sustain successful small businesses.

According to Majed Al-Buraikan, Saudi Reef’s assistant secretary-general for media and communication, this initiative not only aims to elevate the quality and marketability of rural products but also to create new economic opportunities for women in the region.

Recently, the UN World Tourism Organization acknowledged Saudi Reef’s contribution to sustainable development through its integration with rural tourism.

In a letter to Saudi Reef Secretary-General Ghassan Bakri, UNWTO Middle East Director Basmah Al-Mayman also praised the program for hosting rural tourism events across the Kingdom.

UNWTO also expressed interest in partnering with Saudi Reef on future initiatives aimed at advancing sustainable community development and rural tourism.
